Drying interior of wall without removing them
Sometimes when a water damage occurs it comes from upstairs and into the walls and/or ceiling. Some walls have insulation and some do not. With walls that do not we can pull furniture from the wall to dry and remove baseboards as seen in the photos. Doing this allows us to vent airflow into the wall. We drill holes into the wall where the baseboard would go back on and it allows the air to reach the interior of the wall. If it is extremely wet we use "tubes" that will attach to the air movers and then go into the holes we have made. We can also do this on wood cabinetry if it is not damaged and just wet. It allows us to dry under the cabinets and sometimes the wall behind the cabinets also. Of course, this is not always the right answer. If it is flood water, sewage or what we call Category 3 water damage we must remove the drywall along with the baseboards. That is why it is always good to call someone such as SERVPRO of Columbia & Suwannee Counties as we have trained technicians that can advise you which is the safest method to use.
