Basement flooded in Boston, MA
This past January we were dispersed with the SERVPRO Storm Team to assist local franchises with an overload of broken pipes due to their severe winter weather. The photos shown here depict a finished basement that has had a water damage from a pipe breaking in the ceiling. Because it had been wet for several days upon our arrival the drywall, insulation, carpet and pad all had to be removed. Drying the framing is as important as drying other structural components otherwise you would be dealing with other issues such as mold.
As you can see we are attempting to create air flow to all affected areas. We are able to direct air flow towards the ceiling and walls with our air movers and then a dehumidifier is located in the room to remove the moisture from the room or rooms it is placed in.
There are many ways to dry..... this is just one method being used. Leave it to SERVPRO professionals to understand this process and remove water from your home or business.
