Two sides of a door, one with alot of smoke damage and the other with very little Close that Door!

In multiple studies done, experts say closing the bedroom door before going to bed can save your life from a house fire. Most families have a fire safety plan in case of a fire. But there is one simple thing that a lot of people don’t do and that is close the door before bed.

In a study where firefighters did a controlled burn inside of a home they closed one door and left the other door opened before setting the home on fire. Once the fire was extinguished it was very clear where the fire did the most damage in the home. In the room with the door closed everything was still completely undamaged. While the room with the door left opened was destroyed.

The firefighters took photos showing the significant fire damage to the front side of the bedroom door, as well as an image of the door taken from inside the room.

On the outside, the white door is severely blackened, while the interior image makes it look relatively untouched, showing just a small out of damage around the frame.
